Oh my gosh you guys, this past long weekend was packed with so many fun things and I can't believe it's already over! If you didn't know, I went home for fall break Thursday night, went to University of Wisconsin to visit a bunch of my friends (including Fran!) and then finished off the weekend going to my brother's homecoming pictures, dinner with my Grandpa and then an afternoon shopping with my mom! It was such a great combination of activities and even though I didn't sit still the entire time besides sleeping at night, it was worth the 12 hours of driving. I have a bunch of pretty pictures from everything I did and ate, so I wanted to share them with you in a little weekend recap.
My friend Sarah took me to brunch at Marigold Kitchen right when I arrived in Madison and it was seriously amazing. I got the egg and greens hash with sweet potatoes and highly recommend it. After brunch, we did some exploring and she showed me their Delta Gamma house! I also randomly ran into one of my best friends from my chapter's best friend from home (if that makes sense) who is a DG at Madison - literally the funniest coincidence!
Later in the afternoon I picked up one of my best friends (since kindergarten!!) from her exam and we headed to her dorm, walked around a little and got acai bowls with her sister - the three of us have been really close since we were four and it's crazy how much we still talk 15 years later! It was awesome getting to see their apartment and dorm. Then, I went to Fran our friend Elizabeth's apartment to settle in for the night. We got dinner at this incredibly yummy restaurant called Estrellon where we all split an insanely delicious paella. After that, even though it was pouring rain, we got ready and explored the nightlife at Madison. They're so lucky to live so close to all the hustle and bustle of campus!
The next morning we woke up and walked down State Street to the infamous Farmers Market around the Capitol. But first, a stop for Pumpkin Spice and Chai lattes!
And of course, pastries were a must too! I got the chocolate croissant, Elizabeth got a pecan roll and Fran got a pumpkin scone. So festive and fall, amirite ;)
How beautiful is the Capitol?! I haven't been since our field trip in 4th grade and it was crazy seeing it again over 10 years later.
Seriously gorgeous. After the Farmer's Market, we popped in a few stores, went back to their apartment to pack up my things and then headed to lunch before I drove home. It was pouring the entire drive back to Milwaukee which makes sense because apparently a tornado touched down later in the day! When I got home, my family and I headed straight to my brother's senior homecoming photos and then to dinner with my Grandpa. It was great being able to catch up with everyone, even if it was for a short amount of time.
Sunday morning, my dad made me a delicious omelette and then I packed up all my luggage so my mom and I could spend the entire day shopping. It was a much needed girls day and we always have so much fun popping in stores together! I fiiinally found a pair of distressed jeans I love and can't wait to break them out when the weather gets a little cooler. After that, my friend and I drove back to IU and hit a ton of construction traffic #naturally but we made it back safe and sound late Sunday night.
Even though I was home for about 3 days, it was so worth all the hours in the car for a little break from school. I got all my work done before I left so I could really enjoy my time, and it was so nice to take a breather!
This week we have a bunch going on before homecoming on Saturday - I can't wait but am also anxious about everything I have to get done!
I hope you all had a great weekend and have a productive week ahead!
xoxo
What a fun fall break! My school doesn't have a fall break, so I love seeing where people go on their break. I'd love to escape to the mountains for a few days rights now. I'm missing the fresh air the mountains bring.
