Ways to Treat Yourself For Valentine's Day

one // two// three

Ahh Valentine's Day... one of the most loved/hated times of the year. While personally I've never celebrated the big day with a bae (10/10 rhyming amirite), I think February 14 is the perfect time to treat yourself to a relaxing day with a little extra TLC. I feel like this holiday has such a negative connotation, yet the meaning of it is more than spreading love to others, but loving yourself as well.  Soo besides doing a little shopping, here are a few ways I recommend to treat yourself on Valentine's Day (or really any time during the year!).

+ Sleep in
Every week morning, I wake up wishing I had gone to bed even 30 minutes earlier (I'm assuming I'm not the only one who constantly feels this way). So on the weekends, I sleep in as frequently as I can to catch up on extra sleep. It's such a treat to be able to wake up without the blaring of your alarm, so don't schedule anything before noon and allow yourself to sleep in as long as possible.

+ Give yourself a spa day
I never think to give myself an at home manicure or pedicure, so set some time aside to give yourself a little at home spa. Homemade facials, foot scrubs, lots of lotion and a little nail care are just a few little things you can do to instantly feel rejuvenated without having to go to an actual spa.

+ Try a new recipe
I rarely have time to try new recipes out, but when I do, I am always so happy I did (not to mention my taste buds thank me as well). It doesn't have to be super time consuming or complicated, but test out something new in the kitchen - baking something sweet is especially fun! I'm dying to make these Valentine's Day waffles, this apple puff pastry and these strawberry pineapple popsicles. Oh, and this circus cookie milkshake looks ah-mazing too

+ Begin a new book
Similar to cooking, I don't usually have enough free time to find and start reading a new book, but when I do, I am always so glad I took the time to do so. Instead of watching another episode of your favorite show on Netflix or scrolling through your Instagram feed, grab a new book and start reading - you would be surprised how nice it is to get away from technology for a while. This weekend I think I'm going to start Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld because I stumbled upon it in our school library and the title seemed pretty appealing :)

+ Spend time on Pinterest
Ugh, Pinterest... It's a never ending feed of gorgeous pictures that could pull me in for hours on end. Taking even a 5 minute break from my day to gather some inspiration is always just what I need, so if you have time to spare, cozy up with a blanket and get pinning. It's become frightening to me that I have over 15,000 pins on 41 boards now! Feel free to follow me here.

Let the countdown to Valentine's Day begin!
xoxo
