Now that I'm a second semester senior (literally can't believe it), I've come to realize that taking time for myself is crucial for being healthy. Throughout my junior year, I barely had enough time to sleep, much less take an hour to relax, and as a result, I was sick more times than I can count (one of which ended with me in the hospital). In 2016, I've made it my new mission to make sure I'm taking time to relax, de-compress and do small things that make me a more well-rested person. Below are a few tips I've been doing lately to unwind throughout the day!
This is something I'm really going to start working on starting this week. I've gotten into this bad habit of going to bed at 12:30, regardless if I'm up doing homework or not. From now on, I'm going to aim for 10:30 or 11 because I'll be so much more refreshed and ready to take on the day. Put away your phone and get in some extra zzz's!
+ Cozy up with a new book
I received 2 awesome coffee table books for Christmas, and I keep them on my bedside table for reading before bed or if I'm in need of some inspiration. It's important to take breaks throughout the day to get re-inspired, and snuggling up with a fun book is the perfect way to do that.
+ Wear your favorite sweatshirt
Whenever I am feeling stressed or chilly, I throw on my favorite monogrammed sweatshirt tunic from Marley Lilly and instantly feel 10x cozier. It's longer and softer than a normal sweatshirt and I absolutely love wearing it with leggings while I'm doing homework or watching a show on Netflix. Not to mention, the white is so crisp and pretty (and the monogram adds a fun touch too!).
+ Give yourself a manicure
I've found that when my nails are painted, I'm a lot happier and feel much more put together. I used to be too intimidated to paint my own nails (painting lefty is not my forte), but after practice, I've come to be relaxed by giving myself a manicure and love the result.
+ Take a bubble bath
Whenever I have an extra 30 minutes at night, you can always find me taking a bubble bath with my favorite citrus bubble bath. I like to put on a show on Netflix or catch up on videos on Youtube for a little entertainment while I enjoy the hot water.
+ Drink your favorite tea
I'm more of a hot chocolate fan myself, but sipping on a warm drink while I'm blogging or sitting on the couch is the perfect way to unwind and enjoy your night, especially during the colder months!
Are you trying to take more time for yourself in 2016? I feel like it's a common goal for the new year!
