My New Exercise Obsession

When one of my friends asked me to go to a zumba class with her last week, I was sort of intimidated. If you ask any of my friends, they would tell you I literally cannot dance to save my life (not well, at least). However, it was the first night of Thanksgiving break and I thought I would give it a try because it burned more calories than sitting on the couch watching Netflix ever would :) To my surprise, it was actually the best 60 minutes of my life. The upbeat songs and adorable old ladies (seriously so funny) produced nonstop laughter among everyone in the class and for the first time ever, I didn't mind doing cardio for an hour straight! Now that we've become determined to actually get the hang of the dance moves, it is officially our weekly obsession.

There are so many benefits to zumba, especially during the busy exam season that's upon us. For example, it:

+ Improves your flexibility
+ Reduces stress
+ Increases your endorphins (s/o to Elle Woods)
+ Gives you energy
+ Aaaand is a great way to have a blast with your friends

Workout classes are free for members at the gym I belong to, but in case you don't belong to a gym or just want to do it from home, here are a few different Youtube videos I recommend for fun songs:

a great video if you're a beginner like me!

My new goal for 2016 (!!!) is to try more exercise classes because I have a feeling I'm missing out on things like spinning and hot yoga!
Have you ever tried zumba?
xoxo

  2. I've been going to Zumba every Monday and Wednesday for the past few months and I'm obsessed! It makes me excited to work out because it's "exercise in disguise" as my instructor calls it. Definitely a great stress reliever, too!
