Staying Healthy During the Holidays

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I've been putting more and more effort into maintaining a "healthy lifestyle" rather than just a month long change before the holidays hit. This idea is definitely different for every person, but for me, I'm trying to incorporate more fruits and veggies into my diet, get into a consistent workout routine and challenge myself every day, "snack" less and finally hydrate as much as possible. While I definitely have the urge to binge eat on every delicious food this season brings, I'm instead trying to pick and choose my favorite things to assure that I enjoy them more and continue to maintain this lifestyle. Last year I definitely went a little overboard (it doesn't help when you're stress eating while studying for finals!), so I have come up with some of my tips - for Thanksgiving especially - to stay healthy during the holidays!

+ Do a big workout the day before and after
This is more of a mental thing for me, but doing some kind of long workout the day before Thanksgiving and the day after makes me feel a lot better about indulging in my favorite meal of the year. If I have time, I'll typically spend around 2 hours at the gym getting in a little extra cardio and ab workouts. Last year I did a Drumstick Dash and let's just say forgetting my inhaler just about killed me (literally, haha).

+ Have a small breakfast and lunch
I'm not one for skipping an important meal like lunch, so eating a small breakfast or mid-day meal is smart so you really appreciate your dinner.

+ Don't load up on appetizers
Avoiding appetizers is such a daunting task, but saving your appetite for the actual dinner is so, so worth it! I know my favorite parts of our Thanksgiving feast are the stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberries and pumpkin pie, so I keep these in mind while I anxiously wait for dinner to be served. You will genuinely enjoy your food more if you wait and you will feel a lot less stuffed after too!

+ Go on a walk before or after you eat
Depending where you live and what time you eat, you might be able to go on a walk after your feast. This is the best option since you will feel 10x better walking everything off rather than lying sprawled out on the couch (we've all been there). Going for a stroll around the neighborhood before dinner is great too, and you'll definitely work up a big appetite!

Please tell me I'm not the only one who struggles with this! Are you going to try this this year? Any tips you recommend?
xoxo

  3. Generally this cancer peaks between 40 to 60 years old and is more frequent amongst women than men. Follicular tends to spread to other alternative thyroid remedies parts of the body like the lungs and bones. Even though its cure rate is superb at 95% for those with small lesions, it varies on people's age and largely relies on the scale.
