My Updated Makeup Routine

I've always believed that minimal makeup is the best way to go. Letting your skin breathe is so much healthier than having a heavy, cakey foundation over your face, especially when you exercise throughout the day. Over the years, I've taken care of my skin and have never really needed any sort of makeup (besides a little mascara) to conceal pimples or brighten any spots.

Lately, however, my skin has been breaking out like crazy. Between little sleep, less exercise than I would ideally like and lots of stress, my skin has been totally out of whack and is more red and pimpley than ever. Before a graduation party last year (literally 30 minutes before), my mom and I rushed to the Bobbi Brown counter to see what they recommended. I left with a concealer stick and have loved the results! I simply cover up any little break outs and it blends really well into my skin.

Then came this year... I've noticed that when I don't get as much sleep, I get a little paler and my skin has gotten slightly red in some areas too. Another trip to the Bobbi Brown counter and I fell in love with their bronzer. I use it sparingly but sometimes a little swipe across both cheeks is just what I need.

On a day when I need coverage and a want a slight natural tan, here is my routine:

I can't even stress how much this thing saves my life. Whether I have a small red dot on my cheek or a larger break out on my forehead, I slightly wet my little brush and dab a little concealer on top to perfectly cover it up. I've also found that it acts as a great brightener for your under eyes if they look a little puffy.

I'm surprised by how much I love this bronzer. When I originally bought it, I didn't think I would get much use out of it besides bigger events like homecoming or a party with friends. I also didn't think it did much at all and was kind of pointless - that was until I actually wanted a little more color for homecoming and then I realized how amazing it was! I've been using it almost every day now and it gives me an amazing little bit of color that brightens up my face and makes me look a little more awake and put together.

I have been using this mascara for a little over a year and really love it. It makes my lashes look super long but isn't too unnatural looking. I actually stole it from my mom and have never really tried another mascara brand, but I definitely recommend this one!

I can't even put into words how much I love this lip balm. The taste is ah-mazing, the color is such a beautiful glossy pink and it is so, so hydrating. I keep this in my pencil pouch so I can apply it during the day, but sometimes put on a light lip balm and this on top in the morning for an extra boost of hydration. If you want a slightly pinky balm that is really moisturizing, this is for you!

And that's all I do!

  1. I love Bobbi Brown products, their shimmer bricks are great! When I was in high school I always prefered a more natural makeup look as well!

  2. That foundation stick sounds amazing! I'll have to look for that the next time I'm at the mall!
