Face Mapping: How to Avoid Breakouts

I recently read a really interesting article on Laurenconrad.com about something called Face mapping. Basically, by looking at where your skin breaks out, you can determine what is causing it to occur. At first, I was a bit skeptical because it sounded pretty general (my skin is really sensitive and doesn't usually follow any sort of pattern that other people might find theirs does), but after looking a bit closer I do think it is really accurate!

1. Forehead
Breakouts across your forehead are most often triggered by little sleep or stress. To keep this clear, be sure to get at least 7 hours per night.

2. Above the brow.
If you're breaking out here, it may be because you were recently sick with a cold, flu, etc. This area is affected by your immune system, so be sure to take extra good care of your body by drinking lots of water and eating nutritious foods.

3. Between the brows.
Breakouts between your brows are sometimes caused by too much indulgence in unhealthy foods. Cutting back on sugar, dairy and rich foods will help clear up this area of your skin.

4. Cheeks.
Since your cheeks are linked to your respiratory system, smoking or breathing polluted air can cause breakouts in this area. Lauren talks about how when she was in India, her cheeks broke out because of the poor air quality.

5. Side of the chin.
Hormones affect the sides of your chin, so breakouts occur in this area during your period. Depending on which ovary is ovulating that month, one side of your chin may be more broken out than the other.

I hope you found this as interesting as I did - who knew you could really trace your breakouts!

  1. I found this too and found it interesting! Some of my breakouts don't necessarily show this as true but it helps to figure out how to get rid of major breakouts!

  3. This is so interesting! Most of my breakouts are on my chin, but they've really started clearing up since I started on birth control. It's so weird how the location is linked to the reason!
