Happy Weekend everyone! I have lots of fun collaborations planned for the new year, so what better way to kick them off by a Weekend Morning Routine? This was a highly requested post and I'm so excited to have shot it with my new camera lens. Enjoy!
Wake up late
(usually sometime around 10:00 if my schedule permits :)
Check social media
From bed of course! Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, other blogs... you name it! I love reading every comment I receive on all my social platforms, and this is the time I respond to emails as well. It's a great way to start off the weekend on a productive note while still staying comfortable in bed.
Grab my laptop and schedule posts
Going off what I said about being productive, since I think of many of my post ideas throughout the week, I typically will start writing some posts (or at least drafts) on Saturdays, and finish them up on Sundays. This is one of the most difficult but exciting parts of blogging, and I love getting my creative juices flowing for the day.
Watch Youtube videos and Netflix
Naturally, since I don't have too much time on week days to indulge in a little Netflix, I'll watch an episode or two of my favorite show (currently New Girl!). I also enjoy catching up on my favorite Youtubers' videos too.
Make my bed
Once I finally drag myself out of bed, I am so OCD so I am sure to make it extra tidy and cozy for the next night. I don't know about you, but when I have a made bed, I feel so much more organized!
Wash my face and brush my teeth
This is pretty self explanatory... I brush my hair and my teeth, put on moisturizer, lip balm and lip gloss, etc. Let me know if you want a separate post about what I do specifically to get ready!
Make breakfast (and eat it in bed preferably)
In this post I peeled a clementine to eat in bed while I blogged (my absolute favorite winter citrus fruit). If I'm not going out to brunch with friends, something that tends to occur a little too often, I'll make myself a yogurt parfait with my favorite cherry Chobani yogurt, or my new obsession: whole wheat waffles!
Put on workout clothes
Before I do this, I'll scroll through my Pinterest health + fitness board to motivate me to work out (since as you can imagine, it is often quite hard to get myself out of my comfy pjs). I throw on my new favorite leggings, a workout tank and jacket and hit the road!
Go to the gym to workout
Sometimes I'll go with a friend, but often times I love going to work out by myself since it's a great time to clear your head and zone out for a bit. I usually will run on the treadmill for a mile or two, get some more cardio in on the elliptical, do some weights for my arms and legs and then some planks and other ab workouts on a mat. 45 minutes are just enough and leave me feeling refreshed and prepared to take on the weekend ahead of me!
Shower and get ready for the day
Similar to going to the gym, taking a shower is the perfect way to get your mind off things and have some quality time to think. For me, as cheesy as it sounds, it's a time of reflection and relaxation as I blast my favorite music and think about what I have to do to prepare for the upcoming week. After that, I'll put on a cozy outfit (since it's currently in the single digits here in Wisconsin) and hang out with friends!
And that's my morning routine for the weekends!
Be sure to check out my friend Abby from Belle of the Ball and her morning routine!
