How to Get Started On Your Fitness Goals

How fun are these awesome Devon Maryn workout clothes?!

I'm guessing about 75% of you have made resolutions relating to health and exercise for 2015, and if you're like me, maybe you're having a little bit of trouble getting started. I have all these intentions to hit the gym 5 days a week, chug 8+ glasses of water a day and eat lots of fruits and veggies, but somehow these goals are overshadowed by more exciting things like my social life (ie. ice cream runs at 10 pm). I'm totally with ya! That's why to kick off what I'm going to call Wellness Wednesdays, I thought I would share some motivation with you to get and keep you inspired to get healthy. Every Wednesday I'll be posting something relating to health, nutrition or fitness (just like last year's posts on Thursdays, just switched back a day!). I want to make sure I keep my health goals in mind, and I want to help you too!

+ Make a health board on Pinterest.
Let's be real, Pinterest is my guilty pleasure so any time I have an excuse to go on it, you know I will. Pinning new workouts or cute water bottles or workout wear is so addicting, and it really gets me wanting to exercise! (Here's my health board if you aren't following along already ;)

+ Create a workout routine.
This part really gets me excited (that's probably the Type A in me, oops) because I love planning everything out. Figure out what activities you like doing and try them out in a sequence! Check out this guest blog post I did for my friend Hannah about making your own routine!

+ Turn working out into an event.
Instead of making plans to get Starbucks with a friend, make a date to go workout together! Whether it's hitting the gym, trying a new yoga class or simply going for a walk, you'll start making exercising a priority and part of your social life rather than simply something on your to do list. Read this article for more fun ideas!

When in doubt, think about how much better you feel when you're exercising and eating nutritiously on a regular basis. It really affects your mood and outlook on life!
Any other Wellness Wednesday suggestions you want to see?
xoxo

  1. I love these tips! I didn't really make a "resolution", but I would like to become more healthy and toned in the New Year (because my wedding is in May!) My favorite is creating a Pinterest board, I'm guilty of sometimes flipping through my Fitness Pinterest board while I'm on the treadmill, mine is filled with tons of inspirational quotes so it really helps me push harder and keep going!

  5. This is great! I have actually been working out alot on the wii a lot lately by doing zumba games. (it's -20 degrees windchill so there is NO way I'm running outside!) I hadn't done the wii in ages, but its so fun! I'm doing it with my dad too, which is great. I can't wait to get back on campus for my free rec center & classes! nice post! i look forward to hearing more of your favorite workouts and workout gear!
