Post-Easter Candy Cleanse

Oh lord, this week is going to be a tough one. Not because of the business of school, but because of getting used to not just consuming candy, chocolate and cookies everyday. Not going to lie, I basically lived off of those three things this past weekend and confession: I feel absolutely disgusting. It's so easy to opt for french fries and chicken tenders when you're out to lunch or have three handfuls of candy for dessert (especially during Easter!), but this week I'm going to challenge myself, and you all, to go on a sort of Post-Easter Cleanse. Don't worry, I'm not talking only drinking watery liquids and eating lettuce but instead limiting your sugar intake, consuming fresh fruits and veggies and hydrating with lots of water. How am I going to do this, you ask? Well, I've broken it down into 3 easy steps:

+ Only eat 1 dessert a day.
Let me tell you, having vending machines and delicious treats at school is quite tempting, but I've found that I'm not actually enjoying the sweets, but instead just eat them because they're there, you know? This week I'm only going to eat one dessert a day, whether it be a small handful of skittles or a brownie.

+ Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
My skin is absolutely out of control right now (although I think part of the blame is due to my lacrosse goggles) and I'm guessing that my lack of hydration isn't helping. Get out your reusable water bottles ladies because let's all drink at least 8 glasses of water (or 64 ounces) of water everyday this week!

+ Have at least one fruit and/or vegetable at every meal.
I am a huge fruit fan so this one isn't too difficult, but at dinner I often shy away from the fresh produce we have in our refrigerator. At lunch I love eating apples and a side salad and pineapple for breakfast - buy some of your favorite fruits and veggies and remember to eat them at every meal!

I think after one week of this I will definitely be back to normal!
Are you going to join in on this healthy cleanse?
xoxo,
cYa

  1. A trick that I have found that makes me want to drink more water is to buy sparkling water...It feels less boring than "normal" water. When I am feeling extra adventurous, I go for the lemon- or lime-essence infused varieties! Just make sure that there are no chemicals or sugar added.

  2. Such an easy cleanse! This is a great cleanse to get in the habit of doing for every week, too!

  3. My lax/field hockey goggles used to make me break out so badly! If you soak them in soap and water then rinse them out completely every so often it really helps! Great ideas!

  4. What a good (and simple!) idea for a cleanse! I definitely need to join you on this... the Easter bunny was very generous with the amount of candy he left in my basket this year, and I've definitely been over-indulging.

  5. Love this! Those chocolate eggs did taste pretty fantastic, but now it's officially time to cleanse!
