Review {Sail to Sable}

Hi everyone!

I am thrilled to announce that Sail to Sable is a new sponsor of Citrus and Style!

Their playfully preppy tunics are inspired by "stripes, salty water, coral, Jackie Kennedy Onassis, bright and bold fabrics and all things summer." Can it get any better than that?!

When they offered to send me a tunic, I had quite the difficult time choosing. (See the image above to see the ones I was deciding between!)

But, after much deliberation I decided to go with the Pink Pearls one from the Summer 2013 Collection!
I'm obsessed with the bubble gum pink and it is so darn comfortable too.

It looks perfect styled with pearls (ehem hence the name) and a pair of jacks!

The fun detailing is absolutely stunning!

I can't wait to wear it throughout the summer as a party dress, for a day of shopping or maybe even as a chic swimsuit cover up!

Thank you to Sail to Sable for sending me this beautiful tunic!
And also, a special thank you to Signe for playing photographer for me ;)

A Little Party Never Killed Nobody

Hey dears!

(Elizabeth just posted about this so our posts basically cover the same things...haha)

Anyway, I had been pining away to see The Great Gatsby since it came out a few weeks ago and last Friday I finally saw it! It was nothing shy of spectacular, to say the least.

Where do I begin? The love story, the clothes, the characters, the scenery, the acting, the parties.... I could rave on and on.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the story, Nick Carroway has just moved to New York and his neighbor, Jay Gatsby, throws these extravagant parties all the time with tons of people. No one, however, actually knows who Jay is or what he looks like. Nick's cousin, Daisy, lives just across the water from him and is married to Tom, who is a total jerk. Tom is cheating on Daisy with Myrtle and everyone knows it except for Daisy and Myrtle's husband.

I don't want to give too much away but let's just say that Daisy and Jay have a little thing for each other..... Oh goodness it is too good! Leonardo Dicaprio is simply amazing as Gatsby.

This movie makes me want to throw a huge soiree and dance the night away, while dressed to the nines in feathers and glitter.

"And I like large parties. They're so intimate. At small parties there isn't any privacy."

Oh and did I mention I am completely obsessed with Daisy?

How could I forget to mention the music? I can't stop listening to it on repeat on my trusty Spotify. It is phenomenal

If you have the chance to see it, definitely do!
Have you seen the Great Gatsby?

Organize Me: Exam Studying

It's that time of year again! Exam season seems to roll around unexpectedly at the end of every semester. Like it (ha, as if) or not, you have to thoroughly prepare in order to maintain/ raise your grade.

While it may be a very stressful time, I like to break down all the studying to keep myself less anxious. Since we are STILL being pelted with project after test after paper, I use the weekends as my time to really buckle down.

Everyone really studies differently, but I thought I would share with you my method in case you are in need of new ideas.

Here is what I do to prepare for finals:

Find a quiet place.
I study at my desk in my room that I do normal homework at, however sometimes it is a good idea to work at a bigger space like a kitchen table (if no one is banging pots around!) or go to the library. I am thinking about going to the library because I think I would get less distracted and be too lazy to leave, therefore getting more done! Haha ;)

Make a schedule.
Plan out your time so that you aren't cramming the night/ morning before. Trust me, we have all had those experiences....

Break it down.
I don't know about you, but I cannot sit and really focus for more than two hours, max. I recommend studying for one subjet, taking a break, and then coming back and doing a different one. This way, you will get less antsy and not waste time.

When in doubt, write it out.
Having trouble memorizing certain terms? Write them out on scratch paper or a white board.

Flashcards.
Flashcards are literally my best friends. I use Quizlet for all of my terms and it lets you play games to help you learn the terms. Also, I write out all of my terms on notecards. Bring these with you at all times and quiz yourself if you have a few spare minutes.

Form a study group.
For my biology class, I organized a little study session at a local library with some of my friends. Make sure they are all in your same class/ have your same teacher otherwise you may not have the same material! Also, don't get distracted! Other than distractions, study groups are a great way to review because often times people think of more stuff to review or come up with better ways to study than you have thought of.

Stay hydrated!
I keep my water next to me while I study and it is a great reminder to take a few seconds to step back, breathe and activate my brain.

Go in to review with your teachers.
Since my teachers encourage students to come review with them, I definitely take advantage and go over concepts with them. (Sometimes they even reveal secrets about the exam!)

Take breaks.
It is really important to take breaks. But don't take a 4 hour break at the mall (as much as I could use some retail therapy) or hang out with a friend. It is best to take a 30-60 minute break that stimulates your brain. Go for a walk or jog, make a study snack (apples and peanut butter anyone?!), paint your nails, watch a TV show, etc. Try to stay away from tempting things like hanging out with a friend because chances are you won't want to leave!

Reward accordingly.
I like to reward myself after a long day of studying with some ice cream or even a movie. Also, every hour or so I have some candy or my personal favorite, fruit by the foot ;) Some things never change!

I hope this helps you!
Any other ideas you have for studying?
Good luck on all of your finals!!

Weekend Recap

Hey girlies!

I have been waiting a while to do this post because I was super excited/ short on time last week to post it. I finally had time and so it is one week late. But better late than never!

A few weeks ago Kelly from Thomas Kelly emailed me saying she was going to be in Chicago for a trunk show. It was somewhat last minute but I decided to leave school at 1:45 Friday and drive there with my dad. It was the perfect little trip! Plus, how could I pass up the opportunity to meet Kelly, a pink and navy, workout fanatic like myself?!

After major traffic and car troubles, we made it there 15 minutes after Kelly told me she was going to leave for the airport. (Note: At one point we were so desperate and close that I literally got out of the car and sprinted to the Equinox she was located at so I wouldn't miss her....haha) The traffic was bumper to bumper, and we may have forgotten it was rush hour. Oops. But Kelly was so sweet and waited for me!

Isn't she the cutest? I was sure to don my fave pink and navy ;)

She was so sweet and I am so glad I got to meet her!

My dad and I ended up staying over night and made it into a little trip.

The next morning we went to Starbucks and had breakfast on the roof patio kind of thing they have. The weather was ahmazing.

And who goes to Chicago without shopping? Gap had the best clothes and the store was much bigger than the one nearest to me so I went nuts.

The J.Crew in the Bloomingdales building was huge. So crowded/ intimidating that I didn't buy anything.

We also went to the top of the John Hancock building. 1000 feet up, yeeep.

The Kate Spade store was pretty, but nothing really caught my eye enough to buy anything.

How gorgeous is the Ralph Lauren store on Michigan Avenue?

And those flowers.......

I die

The way home was not so great, unfortunately. To make a long story short, my dad's car made it about 100 feet out of the parking garage of the hotel until it broke down.... 3 hours later we were in a tow truck and made our way to the dealer to get a loaner car. I guess it just makes the trip more memorable!

On a happier note, I purchased a few things while there. I was thinking about doing a haul of what I bought in Chicago with the other little things so far this spring. Would you guys be interested in seeing that?

I am so happy I finally got to meet Kelly and look forward to meeting other companies if the opportunity comes along!

Have a great day!

Weekend.

Alleluja! It's the weekend! (Cue happy dance)
This week has been uber stressful and I am so looking forward to sleeping in and seeing some friends. But, since my finals start next week, the majority of my weekend will consist of: studying, reviewing, studying and more studying. Bleh.

Besides studying, I plan to make time to:

Paint my nails, as I am long overdue. I will be busting out my favored color of choice, bikini so teeny!

SLEEP. I am so deprived. No explanation necessary.

Watch this video I have been hearing people rave about for days now.

Write more posts! I sincerely apologize for my lack of posts lately and will make sure to schedule some for you all! I am planning some outfit posts/ reviews so stay tuned my dearies ;)

Enjoy the weather with my gal pals. Bike ride? I think yes.

Have a good one, friends!

Pins as of Late

I have been relying on Pinterest for procrastination lately, per usual. I have so much work to do but all I really want to be doing is sleeping (see picture above).

Summer please come sooner!

5 Summer Dresses

Happy Monday!

Just a warning, my posts will be a bit scattered until June 5th when I am free as a bird and on Summer break! Lacrosse is coming to a slow halt and so is school, so that means tons of tests, final projects, papers, exams, senior nights, graduation parties, blah blah blah. I can't wait to just be done so I can focus on having fun and building my blog!

Anyway, I have had so many graduation parties and baptisms lately. I have had to invest in some dresses for those occasions and I was sure to purchase ones that could be worn multiple times after.

Therefore, I decided to share my favorite ones with you! I got the few I purchased for good prices and have scouted out some other great options as well.

{1} First is this little number from Gap. Not only is the price great (I got it for an additional 30% off when I was in Chicago!), but it can be worn countless times throughout the summer. Perfect for a day at the beach, running errands or even a party. I bought it in the pink and navy one (surprise surprise) but it also comes in other hues like green and navy, coral and cobalt.

{2}  I have been swoooning over this one from Gap for a while now but didn't see it in the store. (It is almost identical to the gingham pattern Kate Spade has right now!) I think the drawstring is so chic and I just can't get over the pattern.

{3}  Going along with my shirtdress obsession, I am trying to justify scooping up this white piece, also from Gap. It can be styled so many different ways and has so much potential. I think it would look cute on any body shape as well! It comes in both white and navy.

{4}  My mom kindly bought me this tunic  from J.Crew a few weeks ago when there was a 30% off the entire store. I first wore it to a friend's bar mitzvah, but then ended up also wearing it to a fashion show, baptism, graduation party, church and even an out of uniform day at school! It is so simple and classic and think it is a great investment.

{5}  Lastly, a more dressy option would be this fun dress from none other than Lilly Pulitzer. (I had to include at least one in this list!) It is the most expensive out of the 5 but is super cute. The only problem I have with this is that I would get sick of it pretty fast. I just included it because the style and pattern are so precious ;)

I think dresses are going to be my favorite pieces of clothing this summer. They are so effortless and fashionable, and take no effort whatsoever. Throw on some white tennies, flip flops or jacks and you are good to go!

Have you purchased any fun dresses lately?

{Outfit} Pink and Orange stripes

Happy weekend!

I have really been loving spring citrusy hues more than usual lately (ehem hence my blog title). Pretty pinks, oranges and yellows make me so excited for both spring and summer!

So when Marley Lilly recently sent me a monogrammed baseball hat, you can bet I was pretty pumped. Nothing is better than bright orange adorned with a monogram ;)

I mean come on guys, how much cuter can it get?!

tee:: J.Crew
bag:: TJMAXX
necklace:: Charming Charlie's
shoes:: Jack Rogers
shorts:: J.Crew

Not loving the orange? Don't worry, there are tons of other fabulous colors to choose from!

Order yours here!

Do you have a monogrammed baseball hat?
What is your favorite citrusy shade?
Have a great one friends!

The Perfect Shirtdress

Hey girls!

I love love love shirtdresses. They can easily be dressed up or dressed down. Perfect for the pool or a night on the town! (Ok I just realized that rhymes... haha!) I think shirtdresses have the right amount of prep while still being a little boyish.

I have been on the hunt for one for the summer and I think I have come across the perfect one:

Isn't that color incredible?

Do you have a shirt dress?

In Bloom

I thought I would share a few floral snapshots I've taken lately. Our house is filled to the brim with flowers and I am loving every minute of it! I currently have 3 little vases filled with flowers in my bedroom.... ;) I guess that saying "April showers bring May flowers" really is true!
