Recipe: Festive Berry Trifle

This year for the 4th of July, Caroline and I wanted to whip up a yummy dessert that would be perfect to bring along with us to the lake. We wanted something festive, light and a bit more on the healthy side because my cousins were bringing an ice cream sundae bar that we would be having too. After doing a little Pinterest browsing (follow me here!) we stumbled upon this classic berry trifle which ended up being a huge hit! I'm not a big fan of cake, so making something with angel food cake (which is much fluffier and less rich) was the perfect solution. Not to mention, it was super easy to make and only took about 15 minutes from start to finish.

I mean, isn't it beautiful and festive??

We soaked the angel food cake in this delicious lemon juice to make it a bit more flavorful and so that we could fit more of it in the glass dish. The original recipe had a big star made of blueberries, but we thought it would be fun to make stripes instead!

Have you ever made a trifle before?
I want to try out some other kinds now because I seriously can't get enough :)
xoxo
