Trader Joe's Haul

After watching one of Brooke Miccio's Snapchat stories about all of the goodies she got at Trader Joe's a while ago, I realized that I hadn't been to my local store in so long. I don't know about you, but I always get in the routine of going to my normal grocery store and always forget that Trader Joe's exists! Anyway, I went the next day and stocked up on some healthy foods that I've had and loved as well as some new things that are more out of my comfort zone (ie. veggie burgers). I've tried all of them and honestly recommend every single item I bought! Read more details about each thing I tried below.

+ Quinoa Cowboy Veggie Burgers
I know I sound lame but this was by far the most intimidating thing I put in my cart. Any sort of meat substitute involving beans, veggies or quinoa used to freak me out because I much prefer to eat the actual meat itself. But, I thought I would be adventurous and try these out since they still give you lots of protein without the actual meat. I'm so surprised by how much I actually enjoyed it and can't wait to make another one for dinner tonight!

+ Organic Baby Carrots
Ok nothing too exciting here - I just needed to stock up on some more carrots for our refrigerator. I used to never be a big carrot eater but recently I have been loving eating them plain, with hummus or in something like a rice dish.

+ Chopped Vegetable Mix
I always have the intention to eat a ton of veggies with my lunches and dinners, but I always get lazy chopping them up and keeping them on hand. This little mix is such a lifesaver because it has a great variety from green peppers to cabbage to jicama and makes it so easy to toss it into a pan to sauté with other food.

+ Whole Organic Cranberries
During the school year, I practically lived off cranberries at lunch. They definitely had a lot of sugar but they were so delicious to add in yogurt parfaits and oatmeal, or just as a quick snack during frees. These are better for you and make the perfect thing to eat in between meals or if you're craving something sweet!

+ Riced Cauliflower
The main reason I went to Trader Joe's in the first place was to try out this riced cauliflower I've heard people raving about. I tried making my own cauliflower rice in this post and while it was yummy, it took so much effort to chop, process and then cook everything. I bought this pack of fresh cauliflower in the produce section and I'm not even lying when I say I've eaten it for the past 3 dinners! All you have to do is literally throw it in a pan with some olive oil and you have something super similar to rice (not to mention, so much better for you!). 10/10 recommend this one - so many of my friends have gone out and bought it too!

+ Rice Medley
For nights when I want actual rice, I bought this rice medley with different kinds of multigrain rice. It's better for you than white rice but still has the delicious carby taste. I love using rice (or cauliflower rice) as a base for my dinner and then tossing in a meat and veggies to tie it all together!

I hope you enjoyed this little haul!
I grilled up some peaches last weekend but unfortunately the pictures did not turn out well given the harsh night lighting. They're so easy and fun to make, though, so don't be surprised if you see a post soon.
Have you tried any of these items as well?
xoxo

  4. I'm at Trader Joe's once a week because the selection is so great and the prices are so college budget-friendly :) I haven't tried any of the items above, but their Happy Trekking trail mix, their salsas, and their frozen flatbreads (and their cookies/biscotti!) are my favorites!
