Now that Winter Break is finally here (and still around the corner for some), I've been compiling a list of activities to make sure I take advantage of this fun time of year. Since I'm officially a second semester senior, I'm in a total #yolo mindset (hashtag definitely necessary) and am in the mood to do everything Christmasy Milwaukee has to offer in the next two weeks before I go back to school!
+ Find some Christmas lights
I went on a stroll downtown last Saturday night and we found a park full of the prettiest lights. Even though it was under 30 degrees, it was still such a fun way to spend the night (especially with pumpkin spice ice cream before!). There's nothing like driving or walking by the most extravagant lights you can find to get you in the holiday spirit.
+ Go ice skating
I'm not the best ice skater in the world (just ask my gym teacher whose class I was in when I broke my wrist in 7th grade) but it's so fun nonetheless. Getting a big group together and skating around bundled up with hot chocolate is the perfect afternoon or night activity that is secretly exercise as well.
+ Hit up the post-Christmas sales
My mom and I always take all of our returns the day after Christmas and break in gift cards if we find any particularly good sales (ie. J.Crew). There are usually pretty good ones the first couple days after Christmas so it's always a good idea to get a head start on spending some gift cards :)
+ Throw a Friendsmas
A lot of my friends go out of town for the holidays, but if you're able to have a quick party before people leave, throw a friendsmas get together! Exchanging gifts (secret santa or white elephant are fun ways to mix it up) or having an ornament exchange are great activities to do. And of course taking pictures on a nice camera or polaroid are necessary!
+ Make a festive recipe
Fran and I made the most delicious peppermint fudge that I totally recommend, but I'm wanting to try whipping up a yummy cake or something with gingerbread. I'm dying to make these! Check out my Pinterest board for more ideas.
+ Have a Christmas movie marathon
Another great way to spend a night with friends would be to have a Christmas movie marathon. Stock up on delicious snacks, don your favorite pjs and curl up to watch classics like Elf, Home Alone and Christmas Vacation. Don't forget to take advantage of ABC's 25 Days of Christmas before it's over!
What are some activities you're wanting to do during the rest of the holiday season?
