My Favorite After School Snacks

Now that school is back in session, I've made it my goal to ditch the fatty, sugary foods I used to opt to after I got home and instead eat more nutritious snacks. Not only will I feel better knowing what I'm putting in my body is better for me, but it will give me more energy after tennis to get going on my homework before dinner.

+ Guacamole and Blue Chips
Avocado is filled with tons of potassium (more than a banana!), fiber and healthy fats, so guacamole is a great option to eat after school. I love dipping blue tortilla chips for a little extra salt and crunch, and these specific chips are a healthier alternative to a regular white tortilla chip. I have been so obsessed with guac lately and it's becoming quite an issue - I'm dying to try avocado toast!

+ Roasted almonds
As much as I would love to be that person who can eat completely natural almonds, I just can't get myself to enjoy them without salt. Even though they aren't as good for you, salted almonds are the perfect way to fill yourself up after a workout and get a little protein!

+ Mixed fruit
My grocery store has a bunch of mixed fruit containers ready to eat, so if I ever get sick of eating just one kind of fruit, I love grabbing one of these. When there are a bunch of colorful pieces of fruit in an easy, to-go container, nine times out of ten I am more willing to devour them (weird but true, right?).

+ Sunflower seeds
Similar to almonds, sunflower seeds are another source of protein and are said to even calm your nerves and give you energy. These are perfect to munch on while doing homework and have the same salt and crunch as potato chips or pretzels (but with a lot less calories!).

Who's going to join me and eat more nutritiously after school this year?!
xoxo

  3. I too have been trying to make better snacking choices....my favorites have been Boom Chicka Pop popcorn, greek yogurt with honey and peaches or nectarines, or salted almonds with a few dark chocolate mini chips :)
