Florida According To My iPhone

As you are reading this I am most likely on a plane to sunny California for Spring Break. I am so ecstatic to be able to catch some rays again (especially since Wisconsin cooled down yet again *sigh*). If you've been following along, you probably know that last week I was on Sanibel Island, Florida visiting family and spending a few days at the beach. Since reading travel recaps is one of my favorite things, I thought I would share a few extra snaps I have of my vacation in Florida!

Since my family has a condo on the island, we usually stay a few doors down from them so we can hang out at the beach and pool together. We've done that for as long as I can remember, however this year we decided to change it up and stay at a resort down the beach (Casa Ybel if you're familiar with the island!). It was a nice change of pace, however a lot more of my family ended up coming than we had thought when we booked the trip, so it would have been nice to be a little closer to them. Regardless, the resort was absolutely stunning and was the best way to spend five days on the water. This was probably the last time all ten of us could be together on Sanibel, so I'm so, so happy we were able to take advantage.

Last year I remember leaving the island and thinking "I really wish I would have spent more time at the beach", so this year I made sure to be out there as long as possible! Not to mention, it was great to be able to have chairs sitting out already and not have to carry them out ourselves. The pool area is amazing, but there's something about being at the beach that is just more relaxing and vacationy.

One thing my brother and I love doing after we've laid out too long in the sun is rent bikes and go all over the island. We've been going every Spring Break for so many years (at least 10!) that we know everything by heart and ride to all of our favorite spots. How cute is this jeep at the She Sells Sea Shells shop?

Captiva Island is basically the sister island to Sanibel, so spending a few hours there is always necessary too. We went to our favorite shops (including YOLO - you have to look it up!) and looked at all of the gorgeous homes. This one in particular is a recent find of mine, and some adorable old ladies told me they think a celebrity might live there. It looks like it belongs in the Hamptons, don't you think?

After going on a long run, nothing was better than putting on my swimsuit and jumping into the cool pool. As it got later in the day, people cleared out and my brother and I swam around by ourselves (and went hot tubbing at night too!). Definitely one of the highlights of the trip. Of course, getting delicious strawberry smoothies at the Tiki Bar was up there as well :)

All in all it was such a memorable trip and I'm so fortunate to have been able to spend time with family I don't get to see very often. Going to Sanibel is one of my favorite things on the planet, and it hit me that next year will be my last before college! So scary how time flies, isn't it?

Are you headed anywhere for Spring Break?
